Ride Assessment (2 hours) This is a riding skills version of an MOT and the first step in the Enhanced Rider Scheme (see below) towards a Certificate of Riding Competence. It consists of pre-briefing, an assessed ride and a debriefing. You'll be provided with a written report and depending on your requirements, a proposed action plan. An initial ride assessment is included for first-time riders in all of our programs.

£49 1:1 only

Half-Day (max. 4 hours). With a mix of theory and road work we'll cover up to 75 miles with at least one mid-way comfort/coffee break. If it's a first time lesson we'll begin with a briefing and a ride assessment. The session is completed with a debriefing, written report and proposed action plan. A half-day can be useful for working on a specific issue.

£99 1:1 only

Full Day (max. 8 hours) First time lessons begin with a briefing and a ride assessment. Depending on a rider's individual requirements, and with a mix of theory and road work, a full day can feature up to 150 miles of riding. There is a morning and afternoon comfort/coffee break, a lunch break and an end of session debriefing. A written report with recommendations is included. Ideal as a ride refresher, a full day lesson gives you the time to practise and refine specific riding skills with ongoing feedback.

£189 1:1 or £149 pp 1:2

Two Day - Advanced Whether you are a new rider, a born again biker or just a bit rusty this is a fantastic way to acquire and develop advanced riding techniques, and make them fundamental to your everyday ride. On day one - following a ride assessment - we'll outline the underlying theories of advanced riding and how they apply to you. Your trainer will actively demonstrate key aspects of an advanced ride - particularly those that are relative to your situation. Based on the assessment we'll normally spend a good part of the first day working to improve the structurally weakest aspects of your ride. On day two you'll put together the elements of a systematic ride and learn how to make good progress - in a smooth, controlled and safe manner.

Whatever your current skill level this course will enable you to achieve notable and matching improvements in both your competence and confidence. The two day advanced program is generally run mid-week in north-central Wales. Learning new skills for life has never been more enjoyable. Take a short break and we'll work with you on some of the most scenic and challenging roads in the country. A Peak Rider Award and ERS Certificate of Riding Competence (if applicable) are included.

£369 1:1 or £299 pp 1:2

Three Day - Comprehensive Our master course. Over three days you will learn what it is to be an expert rider. The maxim practice makes perfect applies as much to biking as to any worthwhile endeavour. Whilst riding a motorbike is without doubt one of life's greatest pleasures there is a recognised element of risk that goes with it. How we deal with the risk determines the quality of our experience. Doesn't it make sense to learn to ride as proficiently as possible? This Three Day Comprehensive course is designed to provide you with the tools to be in total command of your riding. You'll find it an exhilarating experience and discover an entirely new level of satisfaction in your riding.

Day one is similar to that of the two day course with initial assessment, basic theory review, and a trainer's demonstration ride. The remainder of the day is given to sessions to remediate the structurally weakest aspects of your ride. On day two we review advanced riding theory and then put the elements into practice. As we progress through the day the goal is improved consistency with reduced instructor dialogue and increased independent planning and actions by the trainee. By day three we're seeking an independent ride with instructor feedback at rest stops. The trainer will be assessing at the finer points of the ride in order to 'put the shine on the apple'. In the afternoon we'll do a final assessment ride with a detailed analysis.

Are you a relatively new rider looking to fast-track your learning curve? Do you want to prepare for an advanced test such as RoSPA? (RoSPA test criteria) Or do you simply want to develop your skills to get much more from your riding and your bike? On the Three Day Comprehensive course you will acquire, practice and 'lock in' advanced riding skills. The goal is to reset your default riding mode and put you in total control of your ride. As with our two day program the Three Day - Comprehensive course is usually run mid-week in north and central Wales although other regions may be accessed. A Peak Rider Award and ERS Certificate of Riding Competence (if applicable) are included.

Enhanced Rider Scheme (ERS)

The Enhanced Rider Scheme is a joint effort between the Driving Standards Agency and the Motorcycle Industry Council and features as an option across all of our training programmes. As with all Peak Rider training ERS is tailored specifically to your needs. You do as little or as much training as required: it concentrates on identifying weaknesses around the key risk areas in on-road riding, such as bend negotiation, overtaking, filtering, positioning and junctions. The goal is to develop riding skill and reduce risk. If your riding is assessed as satisfactory you'll be issued with a DSA Certificate of Competence - Enhanced Rider Bonus which then qualifies you for an insurance discount. For more information call us today, download the ERS leaflet (ERS Info PDF) or, go to: www.direct.gov.uk/ERS. Earning your ERS Certificate of Competence is a notable achievement on your lifelong journey to better riding.

  • Have you undertaken any rider training since getting your licence?
  • How can you be sure your skills are up to scratch?
  • Are you getting the most from your riding?
  • Is it time you took a skills assessment or refresher course?

The RoSPA Test - The only one monitored and approved by the Driving Standards Agency

The RoSPA advanced riding test (RoSPA test criteria) is regarded as the most comprehensive and challenging available to the public. A RoSPA gold is the highest civilian riding standard available and the holder will be a master of his or her art. It is unlikely that anyone will gain a high grade without a good knowledge of The Highway Code and Motorcycle Roadcraft. RoSPA advises obtaining prior training or assessment from a knowledgeable instructor to help you prepare for the test.
